New rules for Canada immigration of skilled workers; 2010

Canada has set new rules for Canada immigration of skilled workers.The new rules for Canada immigration of skilled workers are applicable from 26th June 2010. That means the people who has applied before 26th June 2010, their application will be processed as the immigration law of that time. People who have appliied from 26th June 2010 and onwords, will have to follow new rules for Canada immigration of skilled workers.

  • Canada will consider only 29 occupational categories.
  • In the following 12 months Canada will consider only 20000 applications.
  • Only a maximum of 1000 applications will be considered in each of the job categories.

If your occupation is in the list according to new rules for Canada immigration of skilled workers, you must see if there is still space to apply (quota is not full) click here.

If your quota is full, then you must have a job offer from Canada to apply according to new rules for Canada immigration of skilled workers of 2010.

  1. sir i have mistakenly forward to application to london visa office on 26th april 2011 instead of novascotia. i m very much worried. should i send you only forms and photocopies along with draft. they will return my file in several weeks. kindly reply n help. zeenat imran

  2. @ zeenat: First of all, I am not Canadian immigration officer or something like that. I just share the knowledge I have gathered regarding it. Now come to your problem. As you have sent your application to wrong visa office, they will probably send you back the application. If you don't want to wait that long, you may prepare another set and send it to Novascotia.

    Is it true ? Because it is not uploaded on Canada Immigration Website.

    If it is true then what are the skill worker categories and point system.

  5. I have gone through the link, but these are old rules and applicable up to 26th June 2011.

    Do you have idea for new coming rules applicable after 26th June 2011 ?

  6. i am planning to apply under federal skilled worked category as soon as new announcement comes, but i havent started documentation. How long will it take for documentation? am i too late now or able to manage?

    please send me the document checklist if you have any.

  7. @ Nikunj: Sorry, My mistake. I typed 2011 instead of 2010. I have corrected it.
    Got no idea about further change, seems that the above system will continue till further notice. Feel free to inform me if you have any new information so that I can share it in my blog.

    @ Challtur: I think you should first see if your occupation is in the list. Requirement of documents may vary for different occupation. So, download and read the guide as well as the application forms and you'll know what documents you'll need. Good luck.
